Weekly Yoga Classes

Classes available every Tuesday evening in Chester City centre and every Wednesday morning in Hawarden for all levels and abilities. All classes are suitable for complete beginners and people who have some knowledge of Yoga or Pilates.  It's also suitable for intermediate level as advanced postures are given in each class for those seeking to push themselves a little deeper into poses.

Ashtanga Yoga - what to expect:

Classes focus on Ashtanga; a style of yoga which generally follows a faster-paced, strict series of postures. My classes give an introduction to Ashtanga Yoga, featuring a variety of standing, balancing and seated postures each week so that people can learn, develop and practice poses from the full Ashtanga Primary Series. We work through Sun Salutations at the beginning of each class to warm up the body. These involve a series of 10-17 postures which we flow through with our breath and repeat a couple of times. It may take one or two classes before you feel confident with these short routines, if you are completely new to yoga, but you will soon get the hang of it and they're actually a great little routine to practice at home if you have a spare 10 minutes as Salutations are great for working the whole body. Check out the video if you want to practice this at home.

Since starting Emma’s yoga classes I’ve benefitted both physically and mentally - improved flexibility and focus. The sessions are a good balance of variations on familiar exercises and new ones, with the added bonus of healthy treats, and recipes too!

Head to Lower Bridge Street, opposite La Fattoria, to Oddfellows Hotel, Bar and Restaurant, in Chester city centre, for a weekly yoga class near you, which will help you feel energised, refreshed and relaxed. This class starts with some very gentle stretches, followed by a couple of Sun Salutations to warm up the body, ready to move onto a range of standing, balancing and seated postures from the Ashtanga Primary Series. More time is spent in each pose to focus on stability and strength. A much gentler class than the first hour, this focuses more on alignment and learning how to get into and out of the poses correctly.  A great class for complete beginners or regulars who want to perfect their poses.

I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for about four years and have tried several classes in Chester but never really settled with anyone until I tried Emma’s class. I love the Ashtanga style, it’s challenging yet leaves you feeling content and relaxed. Working through the series each week also provides an opportunity to track your progress and I can see my strength and flexibility improving week on week. I also love Emma’s delivery, she gives clear direction and keeps things simple and relaxed. The post class heathy treats are definite bonus!! I can’t recommend it enough.

I run 4 times a week and this class has helped me no end. I love getting to really stretch my legs and upper body once a week between my runs. It has really helped.
